Background:
While the no-fee Espresso ELN client provides a complete set of functionality, it remains restricted to the interaction with its local database. Without server connection, it is the sole responsibility of the individual users to regularly back up their local databases. If not backed up, all experiment data may be lost after a hardware failure or a migration to a new PC.
Server license benefits:
- Espresso ELN server licenses provide access to centralized, safe backup through automatic, periodic synchronization of the local database with an SQL Server database. The essential local database can be restored from the server at any time, e.g. in case of a fresh OS installation.
- Server licenses allow global searches across an organization, thus enabling knowledge sharing. Especially in the context of reaction substructure searches, this results in an invaluable in-house reaction database.
- Technical support, including the Espresso ELN clients (which otherwise come without guaranteed support).
Installation of the Espresso ELN SQL Server database is quick & simple. Upgrading to server licenses does not require any re-installation of the local Espresso ELN clients. After granted database access by your admin, simply connect from your currently installed client to the Espresso ELN server instance, and thats it!
License fees:
60 day server evaluation licenses are available at no cost. Server licenses are issued per user and year, on a specified server instance, and include technical support.

The license key checks the number of users storing data on the server database - i.e. not the the number of users concurrently using the database.
